On this premiere episode of the Halo Halo podcast, we introduce and explore halo halo, not only as a unique Filipino desert, but a model of cultural identity.  We also review what we are looking forward to TV watching this fall and unpack the genius of “Superstore.” We gush, a little bit, on Nico Santos and recognize that all settlers need to acknowledge that we are all immigrants. We also challenge any cultural amnesia that the dominant culture might have and remind listeners that we are more than enough when it comes to debunking the deficit model of being Filipino Canadian.
