On this premiere episode of Season three, your co-hosts come back from their summer hiatus to catchup and review the debut album of SB19's "Get in the Zone".  Sigi and Jezzie delight in this good start for this P-Pop boy band group.  Later, your co-hosts discuss the unique expressions of love, Filipino style.  From fiercely protecting one's heart, to performing grand gestures of affection, Sigi and Jezzie poke fun at both romantic and cringeworthy ways that love is expressed in the Filipino culture. And finally, they suggest how soemtimes saying awkward is a good antidote to when your grand gesture could fail.

Taste Test of Stumbling Through Paradise: A Feast of Mercy for Manuel del Mundo (Episode 221.625)

Finally, Sigi exclaims on how you are left wanting more while Guerrero-Campbell offers its readers a contemplation on how Canadian society is trying to be like a slow-cooked and well-balanced soup.

Episode 221 - Season Two Wrapup and Being Disaster Proof

What a year!  From guests and guest co-hosts to podcasting from the Philippines itself, it has been quite a second season.  No sophomore slump for us!  Along with our regular discussions of pop culture and FilipinX issues, we opened the pop culture vault (courtesy of the COVID-19 pandemic) and pivoted to respond to the Anti-Black Racism protests this season.  Without our Filipino sense of being disaster-proof, being able to course correct our programming on the fly would have been more difficult.  Thank you for listening to us this season and we look forward to talk to you all this Fall.  Maraming salamat!

Episode 220 - Hot Summer Recommendations and Pagmamano

As this summer of quarantine living comes into full force, your co-hosts share with each other and with all of you, their recommendations on what will occupy them for these upcoming "dog days." From the "Babysitter's Club" and "Hamilton: The Musical" to "Canada's Drag Race" and "The Alienist: Angel of Darkness," Sigi and Jezzie have much to cover.  Later, they discuss the honouring gesture amongst Filipinos, known as pagmamano and its various expressions and meanings it takes on across the diaspora.  At that heart of this tradition is showing affection for our elders and in this time of physical distancing, Jezzie encourages us to demonstrate our affection through kindness, service or gifts.

As we continue to celebrate Filipino Heritage Month in Canada, Sigi and Jezzie welcome Monica Vera to the podcast where she shares her amazing immigration story and the generational wealth that she has accrued throughout her illustrious life.  As the Realtor Tita, and On the Flipside 101.3 FM radio personality, she shares both the ups and downs of parenting, the importance of breaking generational curses, and why sacrifice is more than just giving something up.  Monica also shares with Sigi and Jezzie how she has paid her wealth forward by founding the not-for-profit organization, Fundamental Learning Academy for Girls (FLAGPhil) in 2010, which has supported underprivileged girls in the Philippines and their pursuit of learning opportunities.
