Friday Apr 17, 2020
Here, at Halo Halo, we ADORE Schitt's Creek! This is our love letter to the entire made-in-Canada, six-season series. This well-told study of Canadiana life and the riches-to-rags, urban, elitist family finding itself in the unlikely setting of Schitt's Creek, is a breath of fresh air on the pop culture landscape. Listen to your co-hosts delight in the wonderful themes and comedy explored in this gem of a show. Later, Sigi and Jezzie unpack the colonial legacy and adopted value of mañana time and rethink it as a call to enjoy what we have today.

Episode 211 - Disinfect your Pop Culture
Friday Mar 20, 2020
Friday Mar 20, 2020
#Canceleverything! Originally, we had two topics that we were going to do a deep dive on for the coming months. The first was the James Bond franchise and the anticipated release of Bond 25 "A Time to Die". The second was Disney's release of their live action take on "Mulan." However, both releases were postponed and as of this moment, the three major cinema chains in Canada have closed to follow the public health authorities direction of social distancing. In these unprecedented times, Sigi and Jezzie discuss the impact that COVID-19 has on pop culture. Later, they unpack how the fatalistic Filipino attitude of "Bahala Na" (aka whatever happens, happens) can help us find the silver lining in today's still world. Finally, the Halo Halo Pop Culture family would like to wish you all safe passage in all your travels. Ingat na!
